Jack Black. Meat Loaf. Ronnie James Dio. Tenacious D. How have I never heard about this?! I wanted to find the best way to tribute Meat Loaf’s passing, and thought no better way to welcome him into the afterlife than Dio. This is the opening song to “The Pick of Destiny” by Tenacious D, and it absolutely rocked my socks off!

Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Meat Loaf, Dio and Tenacious D performing “Kickapoo”.

  1. Hello everyone! I can't believe the success of this video in the first day… it's insane. Thank you for coming to watch this Tribute! (see what I did there?)

I would LOVE to film myself watching The Pick of Destiny for you all, as many requests down below have stated, but I unfortunately can't. There's a lot of filming and projects that I work on, that sometimes I need that buffer between that active listening for analysis videos and enjoyment, and watching this movie falls directly into the enjoyment category. Especially while pregnant, I need ways to turn work off in my head.

I'm really sorry. I know you all would want to see my explosion of laughter at certain parts of the film, but I have to care for my mental health the best I can.

Thank you all for understanding, and thank you once again for supporting Meat Loaf, Dio, Tenacious D and this channel!

    With much love,
    Elizabeth

  2. I mean, as any other common mortal, I love JB so much I hate him :p
Jack Black is a living god, he makes singing sound as easy as breathing.

BTW, the whole movie is worth watching and maybe even making a mini-series about it. We can't forget Dave Grohl, who not only played the drums and guitar for the movie's soundtrack, but he also does an awesome duet with Jack Black.

  3. Great song, Love the Meat Loaf "cameo". Love your reactions and "analysis" of all these great songs.
Have you done any Meat Loaf songs, Paradise By the Dashboard Light is a great Meat Loaf tune.
Love the vids, keep up the excellent work. 🙂

  4. the amount of times I've said "good music is good music".. I think people really are enable to embrace this idea when they are humbled by trying to create their own music

  5. I love Ronnie James Dio so much.
Also, there were religious protesters at the Megadeth concert I saw back in April so the toxic "rock music is devil music" mentality is still very much out there.

  6. I think that the juxtaposition of the vocal sound and the lyrics are really interesting and fun, and that's what makes Tenacious D's music brilliant- mixing complex musical composition with slightly vulgar lyrics.

also, isn't there a modulation at the end on the kid's dragon song? I think its only a third, but maybe I'm wrong

  7. 1:26 "I have to say, I like a lot of Tenacious D songs…" I have truly and deeply enjoyed your views of so many powerful songs. Discovering you with first with Johnny Cash – Hurt, through so many more (Rammstein – Deutschland WOW)… uugh, too many to mention.
My eyes lit up all the more to hear you say you like a lot of Tenacious D. The way you say it. The fact that I like them them too. I do so love seeing what you pick on that have missed in my ignorance.

  8. This is the first (and sadly last) time Meat Loaf sang in a movie after Rocky Horror Picture Show, 25+ years earlier.
Dio apparently brought his costume & throne along with him, it was from an old video.
Oh, and in the commentary, Jack Black apologized to his dad for that one line.
