Last year, I did a full comparison between Spotify and Apple Music, two of the biggest players in the music streaming game. I received dozens of comments asking me to give YouTube Music a chance. Well, I did! Here’s what I think about it.

  1. I'm confused. I joined premium while on YouTube music. It does what it says, no ads, downloads, play in Background, etc. HOWEVER, when I go to regular YouTube there are still ads, etc. I thought Premium was for both YouTube and YouTube Music? Can someone explain this to me?

  2. I used to be a subscriber of Spotify. It's the best music streaming app among the three. It packs a lot of special features. I hate YouTube ads and missed the HD video downloads when Google removed it, so we decided to try YT Premium. It is at that moment that we knew YT Music subscription is automatically included. Once you have YT Premium let me tell you: you'll never go back to the regular YT.
Well if you have Apple devices, it's best to stick with Apple Music. That's about it.

  3. I got YT premium because I was sick of mid roll ads, but with Music included it was a nice bonus considering the cost of competitor's premium services. I use it daily and the audio quality is better with premium streaming 16 bit 44.1KHz.

  4. And what about how many songsmusic are available on each platform? Can some artistsong be present on Spotify but be absent on Youtube or vice versa?

  5. I’ve been YouTube Premium member for a couple years now. I love not having to watch ads, download videos, etc. Some of the audio in my playlists are low quality audio that the song creator didn’t upload, so their are some low quality songs in YouTube. I play most of my music through my car and some songs play really awesome in my car, most ate average, and some really suck. I’ll have to try Apple Music or Spotify to see if I can get a consistent awesome.

  6. I can’t lie I like YouTube music better than Spotify. As far as sound quality goes YouTube music sounds a lot louder and better overall. As far as ease of use and aesthetics goes I believe you music is better than Spotify.
I like YouTubes song recommendations. I think it’s better than spotifys by a long shot.
It is clear YouTube premium is the clear winner.

  7. Unlike Spotify, you can get as many free trials for YouTube music as you want by creating a new account because Spotify remembers payment info but YouTube music doesn't

  8. the fact that a company as big as google (seems like) didn't even have any intention to develop youtube music to become a proper competitor to spotify/apple music/tidal is odd.

  9. Wait till you get a new phone and want to transfer all your downloaded youtube music over to your new phone. You would think, yeah, just log into youtube music and wallah, all your lovely music is right there downloading right before your eyes, no. Think again, you will have to download every single song or album by manually searching for it, then downloading it. Imagine if you've got 1000's of individual songs, now imagine the time it's going to take. You have been warned ⚠️

  10. Paul…. This review is SPOT ON for me! 👍You hit practically EVERY point I've been considering. The Spotify remote control of the desktop software was a great feature when I was providing music for a family party not so long ago. But also I really like YouTube Music providing alternative versions of songs that Spotify doesn't. Personal conclusion? I wish there was one platform that can "do it all", but so far, it seems I may just have to go along with having both Spotify and YT Premium+Music and enjoy the benefits of No Ads on YT + access to alternative song versions, and use Spotify for the mainstream of my music source. Thanks again.

  11. Youtube music is actually better then Spotify and Apple music. I have had it for 3 years and it's my favorite music service. I have youtube premium with no adds on youtube and unlimited offline downloads.

  12. I still use Pandora til today. I haven't found anything better. It's now underrated. Wait for years and years pandora main strong is playing songs in the same gen / category of the musician you like. Please make a review on Pandora 😊👍

  13. Double-tap to forward 10 seconds is the feature why I'm gonna keep using youtube music. I'm so used to it now that I can't go back to anything else.
